Times A Changin'

Remember this?

Just a sweet little angel, sitting in her bath.
So peaceful and quiet.

Well...

That's not the kind of child I have anymore.

And that's definitely not how bath time goes anymore.

Meet my new child.
The one who won't sit still.

Ever.

She spends half of her bath standing up.
Which to me..is slightly counterintuitive.

Maybe she'd prefer a shower.

Then she'll try to unplug the tub.

Then she finds this.

And it's just too exciting not to stand up and take a closer look at it.

Then she crawls to the other end of the tub.

Which is extremely unsafe.

But my efforts in trying to stop it are fruitless.
My only job is to make sure she doesn't drown in the process...everything else is out of my hands.

Umm..what a cute butt!

Can we just pretend for a minute that perverts don't exist and just proclaim the unabashed truth?

Naked babies are ADORABLE.

Amen.

And then she'll try and rip off the bath mat.

At which point, I decide that it's time to drain the tub, and retreat to dry land.

And have a stiff drink.

Just kidding.

Some Happenings of Note

Obviously, I have been hiding under a rock for the past few months and this is my attempt at playing a little catch-up, and slowly crawling out of said rock. I'll try to hit all the high points.

1.) Round Two! *Ding*Ding*Ding*

I am, in fact, pregnant with baby numero dos. (Were thinking about naming it that. Thoughts?)
Hence the reason I have been a lifeless sack of puking nothingness for 2 months. Clearly, my body does not cope with being a human factory very well, and I tend to just physically shut down. Which makes me mentally and emotionally shut down as well.
It hasn't been pretty. I could seriously use a day at a spa.

But I'm out of my first trimester now, so I am thankfully starting to feel better and maybe even a bit more energetic. Besides all of that, were super excited about our growing family! We have always wanted our kids close together, thats the way we grew up and we liked it.

But what has been REALLY fun is getting peoples reactions to our exciting news!
Here's how it goes...every. single. time. :

Me: "I'm pregnant!"
Everyone else: "Uh...wow! Uhh...was this planned??"
Me: "..Well yeah."
Everyone else: "Oh.. uh ok.. Well Congrats!"
Me: "Aww, well thank you so much for your unwavering support! I realize it's a stretch for you to imagine since this is my 18th child and all. ...Oh wait...no..ITS MY SECOND! "

Disclaimer: I haven't.. actually ..ever responded that way. Out loud.

Let's just lay out the facts:
1.) Yes, my first child is 10 months old, and I'm pregnant with my second. Feel free to Ooh and Aah.
2.) No,it's actually not the closest that two children could ever be in age. Have you ever taken a Math class? a Health class? Anything?
3.) Everyone who I've talked to that have had their children close together tell me how much they loved it.
4.) People who did not have their children close together like to tell me how hard it will be for me.
5.) Huh.
6.) I'm married.
7.) ..that means I'm allowed to have babies whenever and wherever I want.
8.) We also know lots of people who have babies even though they aren't married. And you know what? We still think it's exciting.
9.) Because babies are exciting.
10.) I love other peoples opinions.
11.) And numbered lists.
12.) And babies.
So I'll be due somewhere around September 22. This year... I hope.

2.) Vienna is now crawling.

And it's about dang time. She's just a stop and smell the roses kinda gal, and hasn't been in a huge hurry to extend herself physically.
She will however just sit and stare at her hands. It's a little Rain Man ish, but were chalking it up to her just being super detail-oriented.

She also loves putting things in her mouth and crawling around with them in there.
Like a dog.

It's pretty cute.
Have I ever told that she's also the only kid in the world that doesn't actually know how to use a pacifier the right way?

3.) We had our first Emergency Room visit

About a month ago, Vienna was playing in the living room, clumsily tripped over Lukes' leg and landed mouth first onto a bumpy plastic toy was that on our hardwood floor. There was blood, we saw that she had cut her lip open a little bit, and she screamed for a good few minutes. She eventually calmed down, and probably fifteen minutes after the accident, we were playing, she smiled up at me and all of the sudden I go "Omigosh, where is your tooth?!"

Where one of her adorable two front teeth had been for weeks, there was a black and blue gap. No tooth in sight.
While I called the doctor, Luke frantically looked for her missing tooth all over the floor. He came up empty and over the phone I was instructed to take Vienna to the ER.

So that's where we went. And where we spent the next 4 hours.

They said that she had lost her tooth and probably just swallowed it, in which case she would poop it out.
And then they said that she also could have inhaled it, which means the tooth could be in her lung which could give her pneumonia.
..Great.

So they decided to do a chest x-ray, which came up clean. *whew*

We were finally able to leave, all of us absolutely exhausted.

But a few weeks later, I noticed that there was something in her gap...something white. I took her to the dentist, who then confirmed that she didn't actually lose her tooth that day, it just got pushed back up! So now it's working it's way down again, a little crooked, mind you, but hey, she's got her tooth, right?

I mean, she's so stinkin' cute anyway, who cares what happens to her teeth!

4.) Vienna was dedicated at church.

Vienna was one of five little girls at church who were dedicated by our pastor that sunday.

Funnily enough it was the day after our ER visit, which made me probably the grumpiest, most unspiritual person in that room. I was too drained and exhausted from our little fiasco the day before to want to do anything but stay in our jammies for the next week. But I pulled me and my crappy attitude together and once we were there, I was fine.
But because we were all a little behind that morning, Vienna didn't end up with shoes on.
Whatev.

In spite of the look on our little angel's face, it was such a lovely ordeal.
Our Pastor prayed over Vienna.

"May the God who sovereignly appoints the cities and countries where we ,and our parents, live, bless you with care and joy. May you grow up in purity and beauty for the good of others and the glory of your Maker."

It was so special and so important.

Pancake Love

A couple weekends ago I made pancakes for breakfast, and watching my family eat them together was just too cute to not capture on camera.

I can't even handle how adorable they are together.
